Children's Privacy Notice

Draft for legal reviewVersion 0.3 · updated October 1, 2026Also in 9 languages

The short version

  • A parent creates the account. Children never sign up or give us information themselves.
  • We collect only what the app needs to work for your family.
  • We never sell data, show ads, profile children or train AI on your family's data.
  • See, download, correct or delete it any time in Settings.

For parents and guardians

This notice tells you, in plain words, what SparkBrain does with information about your child. It is part of our Privacy Policy and is the notice the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Brazil's LGPD and Québec's Law 25 ask us to give you before you consent.

SparkBrain is operated by SparkBrain Labs, Inc., based in the USA. Contact: privacy@sparkbrain.net.

How your child uses SparkBrain

Your child never creates an account and never types personal information into SparkBrain. You create your child's profile and open their area on your device. Your child then sees their lists, checks off what they did, reads their points and rewards, keeps their reading log and sees the family calendar. You stay in control: leaving the child's area needs your password.

What we collect about your child

  • From you: first name, year of birth and, if you choose, last name, nickname, grade, gender and school name.
  • From using the app: the activities your child checks off and your approvals, points and rewards, books, reading minutes and ratings, and calendar events.

We do not collect your child's voice, address, phone number, email, precise location or contacts, and your child cannot chat with anyone or post anything publicly.

Photos — only if you turn on photo proof. We collect no photo of your child unless you give the separate photo consent (in the consent step or in Settings → Family) and choose a task that asks for one. Your child then sends a photo of the finished task, taken with the device's camera or chosen from it; the app redraws it smaller and removes its hidden camera data (such as location) before it is sent. Only your family's parents can see it; it is never public, never sent by email and never used for anything else. It is deleted as soon as you approve or send back the task, and after 7 days at the latest.

How we use it

Only to run the app for your family: to show your child their day, keep score of points and rewards, keep the reading log and calendar, and show you their progress. Nothing else.

We never:

  • show advertising to your child or anywhere in the app;
  • sell your child's information or share it for advertising;
  • build a profile of your child for marketing, or use emotion analysis;
  • use your child's information to train artificial intelligence;
  • ask your child for more information than an activity needs.

Who sees it

You and the other guardians you add to your child's profile. Our service providers (hosting, email, file storage, error tracking — listed in our Privacy Policy) process it only to run SparkBrain for us. We do not disclose children's information to any third party for any other purpose; if that ever changed, we would ask for your separate consent first.

Before we create a child's profile we ask for your verifiable consent: you confirm you are the child's parent or legal guardian and sign with your full name, and we send a confirmation to your verified email. We keep the record of that consent.

You can withdraw your consent at any time in Settings → Security. The child's profile is then suspended and no more information is collected.

The photo consent is separate and optional: you can give it or withdraw it at any time in Settings → Family. Withdrawing it switches photo proof off and deletes the photos waiting for your review.

Reviewing and deleting

  • See it: everything about your child is visible to you in the app; Settings → Security → Download my data gives you a full copy.
  • Correct it: edit the profile in Children.
  • Delete it: remove the child's profile (restorable for 30 days, then deleted), or delete your account. You can also write to privacy@sparkbrain.net.

We keep your child's information only while their profile is active (a proof photo only until you review the task, 7 days at most). After deletion, only the proof of your consent is kept for 3 years, without your name or email, as the law asks.
